The internal roll cage systems produced by SHP Engineering follow similar configuration to the space frame chassis but are placed into a production vehicle. Most of SHP's clients now require the roll cages to offer a tortional strength to the body shell which includes suspension pickup points.

The challenge with this operation is to create the cage whereby it can be lowered in as a complete unit to gain one hundred percent weld to all joints without removing the roof panel. This type of work is carried out on behalf of several preparation companies who are not able to complete this work in house.

We have a contractual arrangement with Safety Devices to produce prototype roll cages to their specification and carry out development programmes on their behalf. SHP Engineering is an official Safety Devices fitment centre for their own products.

We have gained experience by working with vehicles designed for the Middle East where driver and passenger protection is a necessity. This expertise can be utilised in the design for any vehicle where safety is a key issue.

The Safety Protection System in principal is an external roll cage produced in high quality materials. It is not a show piece as fitted to most customised vehicles but is an integral part of the vehicle that will be bolted to the respective strength points of the chassis/bodywork.

The connecting system between segments uses a specially developed bush to eliminate any harmonic noises or vibrations normally found with local market products. The Safety Protection System incorporates internal bracing which offers rigidity should the vehicle be roll tested, but is not intrusive to the vehicles occupants.

The design principle of this Safety Protection System is not as simple as a flat pack kit but it is able to be fitted using only limited hand tools by semi skilled operatives.

SHP Engineering has developed various applications of the Safety Protection System for a large number of companies who now brand them under their company's range of products.

As with any Safety Protection Systems there may be a need to upgrade the wheels and tyres and in some cases the suspension to suit the application, again an area of expertise SHP Engineering offers to its customers.
